Gloomy!
It's the darkest kind of Outsiders I've ever read about.
I won't argue whether Meursault - the protagonist - have a soul or not, but I'm sure that he sees the world differently and feels differently.
His perspective is summarized in the following lines:
“I have never been able really to regret anything in all my life. I’ve always been far too much absorbed in the present moment, or the immediate future, to think back”
That's it!
I enjoyed this book, though it frightened me!
I recommend it.
