Falling Man

Falling Man - Don DeLillo description

Ummmm! Well, actual rating: 2.5 :)
Difficult to rate! But in my opinion, the novel was not that interesting!
I enjoyed the first chapter, the opening chapter, but then things got really slow and somehow tedious! Sometimes I felt really excited, but, unfortunately, I felt bored most of the time!

description

There is one major idea discussed throughout the novel, which is the idea of God. It's a very good idea, and I think it was handled properly and deeply. It was the most interesting thing in the novel!

Obviously the main character, Keith, suffered from his past experience of 9/11. He tried to live and let go, but the past haunted him, and that's maybe the novel's main message.
“He could not find himself”

The Road

The Road - Cormac McCarthy description

Boring!
I've watched the movie years ago, maybe that is the reason I found the book extremely tedious!

description

I recommend every body who is planning to read this book, to watch the movie instead! These kinds of books are more interesting when they become movies!

Memoirs of God

Memoirs of God - Clement Leibovitz, Jim McLennan description

"A man whose life is empty of meaning, who has forgotten for a long time what it is to feel happy, who flees from his memories, can also laugh, but his laughter will be peculiar"

I'm not sure I have enough words to describe how much I loved this book or how wonderful it really is. This is the type of book which leaves you speechless, shocked and petrified!

description

The story is not like anything I have ever read before. It's truly deep and majestic.
It fascinates the reader and leaves him with a tremendous amount of questions. It opens the mind and refreshes the soul.

"Doubt without faith could be harmful. However faith alone deprives the believer of any merit"

I'm really glad to be the first to review this book :)
I highly recommend it. It's a must read.

The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat and Other Clinical Tales

The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat and Other Clinical Tales - Oliver Sacks
description

This book is truly enthralling. I enjoyed it very much.
It tells stories of people who we wouldn't imagine they even exist.

description

But .. I have to admit that at some point I felt really bored!
Nevertheless, it is definitely worth reading.

مرحبا أيها الحزن

مرحبا أيها الحزن - Françoise Sagan
description

This is the most unexpected book this month!
I wasn't supposed to like it, but unexpectedly I did!

description

The story is so traditional and predictable, but the fact that its writer has actually written it when she was 19 gives the story extra credit.
There is one quotation that I truly loved:

"Anne, I love you, only you. Do you believe me?"
"Don't tell me so often. It frightens me."

I'd love to thank my dear friend Sarah for 'mentioning' this book! Honestly she didn't recommended it! She just mentioned it, and for that I'm thankful :)

I should watch the movie adaptation of this book tonight!

description

A Tear and a Smile

A Tear and a Smile - Kahlil Gibran, H.M. Nahmad, Robert Hillyer, جبران خليل جبران
description

“Yesterday I was rich in happiness and today I am poor in gold”

First off, there is one fact I'd like to make clear: Gibran in translation (English translation) is far more elegant and grandeur than the Original Gibran! And that is really weird!
I tried to read this book in Arabic but I found it silly and boring, while in English it was really profound and deep. I don't know why that happened!

Anyway, this book is a book of wisdom. It truly touched my heart. I loved it.

I'd like to say a very BIG 'Thank You' to my friend Sarah for recommending this book to me :)

Everyman

Everyman - Anonymous description

Everyman. It summarizes the life of Everyman, and it's Anonymous author indicates that it could be written by any man! This is the message.

I liked it. There are many lessons one can learn from it.
It's a nice light read.

Netotchka

Netotchka - Fyodor Dostoyevsky
description

“You sensed that you should be following a different path, a more ambitious one, you felt that you were destined for other things but you had no idea how to achieve them and in your misery you began to hate everything around you.”

What a wonderful heartbreaking novella!
It shattered my heart into pieces, then it crushed all of those pieces by being unfinished!

It is a real gift to know and read Dostoyevsky.
He leaves me speechless everytime!

Tolkien is a major writer of fantasy. I remember watching his amazing trilogy Lord of the Rings long time ago, and I still remember how much I liked it.

Now I finished reading his trilogy and I feel nostalgic! Probably I'm gonna watch the movies again tonight!

I loved the books.

What a classic!
I still remember when professor Thaer introduced Beowulf to us 5 years ago.
I really loved it back then, and I still love it now.
